CAHILL Wins At Wincanton
Yesterday CAHILL put in a solid performance to win the 2m5f hurdle at Wincanton. He was piloted by a confident Gavin Sheehan and the pair made all of the Southern track to come home three lengths in front of the remainder. CAHILL came to us the summer through a contact within the yard. He was formerly trained on the small island of Jersey, where he made a bit of name for himself culminating in winning The Jersey Champion Hurdle at Les Landes. His owner, Ron Vibert, wanted to see how he would fair on the mainland and sent him to us to run whilst the ground was right for him. It is fantastic for CAHILL to get his head in front here and hopefully he can do it again in the near future.
Jumping is the name of the game and it is something we do every week without fail. On Friday we schooled 40 horses on the all-weather surface on top of the Lambourn training grounds and the horses are all in fine fettle. It is great to see the bumper horses taking to the hurdles so well and the hurdlers stepping up to the big fences. For the older horses or the ones that are staying within their sphere, this is a great opportunity for them to get back into the swing of things for the season and iron out any minor kinks they may have.
