Fitorfat are on a winning streak!
Fitorfat Racing’s GREAT RETURN just can’t keep away from the winner’s enclosure. This time under Shane Kelly at Southwell. He was held up again at the back of the field and looked comfortable the whole way around. He was then asked to quicken at the two-furlong pole and accelerated around the opposition. He was made to work for it this time however by a nice horse of Phillip Kirby’s, but he stuck his nose out and showed us again how much he loves winning.
Next was the turn of Fitorfat Racing’s CARNSPINDLE to come home victorious in the 3m Handicap Hurdle at Chepstow on Saturday. She was ridden by Tom Greatrex who kept her mid-division throughout the race until he asked her for more six out. She responded well to his urgings and moved through the pack. Tom kept asking on the run in and she kept finding. In the end, they ended up two and a quarter lengths clear of the rest over the line. She is a tough mare who always gives her all and she is a great part of this fantastic syndicate.
NTF Lycetts Team Champion Award
As many of you may know, we were shortlisted for the NTF Lycetts Team Champion Award. This competition was entered by nearly every trainer in the country.
Their mission –
‘is to instil a sense of achievement in the best managed yards, as well as showcase the positive results of developing a team that works well together. In addition, we see the award as the perfect way of raising awareness of safe working practices to help reduce the risk of workplace injuries.’
The awards were held last week in London at the Institute Of Directors. We attended along with a large portion of the racing community and we won! It is a fantastic achievement to win and we are very thankful to the NTF and Lycetts for choosing us. We won £4,000 which will be spent on Under Armour layers for all the staff to wear under their work clothes and keep them warm in these arctic conditions!
