LA BAGUE AU ROI and PRINTING DOLLARS

LA BAGUE AU ROI

The wonderful LA BAGUE AU ROI showed us everything we could have hoped for winning the Beginners Chase at Newbury under Dickie Johnson. She made a foot perfect start to her chasing career and put in an immaculate round of jumping to come out on top of a very competitive field. She tracked Lostintranslation, a nice horse of Colin Tizzard’s who has won novice hurdles and ran with credit in both of the festivals last season. Dickie and LA BAGUE then took to the front two out and stayed in command until the line. She won by an extending one and a half lengths, also beating geldings Talkischeap for Alan King and Thomas Campbell for Nicky Henderson. Both are multiple novice hurdle winners at big tracks such as Cheltenham and Newbury and also ran at the festivals last year.

This mare is what racehorse training is about, she is athletic, tough and loves the game. This is her 11th win from 15 runs and has run great races on some very big days at the top tracks. We are privileged to be able to train her and we are very grateful to her fantastic owners Nicky Turner, Andrew and Jean Merriam. Also well done to Jack who looks after LA BAGUE AU ROI and Ash who rides her every day.

She has come out of the race extremely well and we now have and a huge amount of options for where to run next. She could go further in distance and she can also run in races just for mares. But what we do know is that there is a lot more to come from this ‘wonder-mare’.

PRINTING DOLLARS

Last week proved to be a week for the mares with the Waley-Cohen’s PRINTING DOLLARS winning the Mares’ Bumper at Warwick. She came to us after winning her Irish point-to-point and has taken to training well at Uplands. She was given a great ride by Sam who kept her up with the pace throughout until taking the lead five furlongs out. She stayed on well to stay in front to beat some nice young mares.

She is fit and well after her run and we will look for races over hurdles for her next. She looks to be a good addition to the Waley-Cohen’s smart line up.
