LITTLE JACK & AARDWOLF
Last week saw another of our young stock come out on top in his first run on a racetrack. This time it was Jim and Claire Bryce’s LITTLE JACK who showed real promise in winning the bumper at Fontwell under Richard Johnson. They tracked the leaders throughout until five furlongs from the finish when the Champion Jockey asked for more and LITTLE JACK responded well to pull clear with ease from the pack by fifteen lengths!
This strong son of MALINAS has impressed us all season and it is fantastic for him to get a win under his belt this summer. He is just one of our brilliant group of stores who have been learning the ropes all year and are now impressing on the racecourse. Some will run in the coming weeks and some will now go on holiday and come back in a few months to prepare for their next appearances on race days.
Little, Roberts, Dowley & Turner’s AARDWOLF also made it into the Winner’s Enclosure last week to win the 2m Novice Hurdle at Stratford on Saturday. Dicky kept him in touch with the front of the fourteen runner race until making his move around the home bend and finishing four and a half lengths clear of the remainder.
He is a tough horse who relishes his racing and it is fantastic that he has got his head in front after coming so close so many times. Since we have had him he has come fourth, third and then second three times showing that he puts everything in, being in the frame every time, but has just been unlucky on the day. He was bought off of the flat and has taken to jumping incredibly well and it is great to have a horse with such enthusiasm for the game. He is in good form and is enjoying the sunshine on his back, so we will look to run him again in the coming weeks.
