Mulcahys Hill shows his strength at Ffos Las and a double at Uttoxeter

 In Latest News

Last Sunday MULCAHYS HILL put in an almighty effort to win the 2m4f Hurdle at Ffos Las. He was ridden handy by Gavin Sheehan who tracked the leader until three out when they made their move to power on home in front. MULCAHYS HILL has been a solid horse for us so far in his career, winning and coming second in two of his bumpers last year and has now shown us what we had all hoped for when stepping up to hurdling on his debut over obstacles. We are delighted for his very loyal owners, The McNeill Family, who have been a huge support to our yard throughout the past few years. It is also great for Scott Sainsbury who looks after and rides MULCAHYS HILL every day at home. We will look to another race with this tough horse in the near future. He could very well run in another Novice Hurdle under a penalty.

INDIAN HERCULES stormed home in the 2m3f Novice Hurdle yesterday at Uttoxeter. He was kept mid-division by Andrew Tinkler until four out when they made headway. He ran on gamely to the line in the competitive hurdle and kept his head in front in a tight finish with the field. This was his debut over hurdles and he took to it very well. He is a big and rangy horse who looks to make a chaser in time. He also won a Point-to-Point in Ireland before we purchased him so there is hopefully a very bright future for this horse in National Hunt racing.

ARTICLE FIFTY made it a double at Uttoxetter for Warren Greatrex Racing winning the bumper in great style. He was very patiently ridden by Tom Greatrex who had him handy throughout. Then when Tom asked he found a fantastic turn of foot to accelerate away from the field with ease.We bought this impressive horse after he won an English Point-to-Point with Phillip Rowley. Phillip Rowley looks after most of our stores, breaking and pre-training them and he is a brilliant horseman. ARTICLE FIFTY looks to be a very special product of the team at Poplar Cottage Farm and we cannot wait to see what he has in store for us in the coming months.
