Yogi Breisner schools some of the team
This week Yogi Breisner came to help school our horses in the jumping ring. Yogi has been in the equestrian world his entire life – he was Chef d’Equipe of the British Eventing team and also coaches jockeys in the racing school as well as at trainers’ yards. Together his knowledge and expertise help to get the horses and jockeys working well together over fences.
Jumping small obstacles correctly at home allows the horses to make mistakes and learn how to correct themselves in a safe and controlled environment. They are then able to take what they have learnt at home onto the racecourse which should lead to an improved performance.
Yogi is also great with the less experienced jockeys in that he teaches them how to react in different ways to different horses and he helps them to use their full potential. As Yogi says: “A jockey’s only job is to produce winners!”
Below are some videos of the schooling session.
On Friday we were able to get the horses onto the grass and schooling over the hurdles and smaller fences. This gave them and the jockeys a chance to apply all that they have learnt over the past few weeks in the ring. Dickie Johnson came into school a few of the horses and get a feel for what some of them will be like on the race track.
