TRIO FOR RIO And MAHLERVOUS
TRIO FOR RIO
On Thursday TRIO FOR RIO recorded his second win this year. This time winning the 3m novice hurdle at Wetherby. He was piloted by Richard Johnson and they made nearly all of the running in the contest. TRIO FOR RIO jumped and stayed on strongly at the end to finish two and a half lengths clear of a nice horse of Martin Keighley’s. He is owned by The Million In Mind Partnership, which is an initiative to get people into racing at minimal costs. You can become part of the partnership for a small fee that allows you to have shared ownership of multiple horses bought by Highflyer Bloodstock. Each year the partnership buy new stock and sell their current horses in a dispersal sale at the end of the season. Unfortunately TRIO FOR RIO will now be up for sale, but he has done nothing wrong and looks a lovely type for the future. Hopefully, we can find someone to buy him and keep him with us in the yard.
The owners of MAHLERVOUS had another marvellous day in Scotland on Saturday when he won the 2m5f handicap hurdle at Ayr on Scottish Grand National Day. This tough horse also won this season up at Kelso back in January and he seems to like his trips up North. This time he was ridden by Gavin Sheehan who kept him up with the pace until taking command in the straight. MAHLERVOUS has really come alive this season putting in great performances on each of his runs. He has had two wins and a second in a valuable handicap at Cheltenham in November. He will now have his summer break and hopefully come back all guns blazing again next year.
Million In Mind Visit The Yard
The Million In Mind Partnership came for a yard visit on Sunday to see TRIO FOR RIO and also some of our stars. We offered them breakfast, a parade of horses. We look forward to what new stock will be coming our way next season.
