WESTERN RYDER & KEEPER HILL have more success
The wonderful WESTERN RYDER showed the world his class once again winning the opener of The International Meeting at Cheltenham on Friday. He travelled exceptionally well and was kept handy by Richard Johnson tracking the front of the field for the majority of the race. This was WESTERN RYDER‘s second win from his first three starts over obstacles and is starting to become a bit of a flag bearer for the yard. He provided a standout performance in the Champion Bumper at The Cheltenham Festival last year and therefore showed us that he would like the track. Now having won around the circuit over hurdles it bodes very well for us in March. After Friday he has gone into 16/1 for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle. Let’s hope his campaign can keep going from strength to strength and he produces what we all know he can.
Yesterday the McNeill Family’s KEEPER HILL put in another strong performance to win the Grade 2 Novice Chase at Doncaster. This is the second win from three starts over fences for this impressive horse and his first in graded company. It would also seem the ever wanted 3-mile distance suits him well. He was ridden by Gavin Sheehan who kept him up with the leaders until two out when they took the running and KEEPER HILL stayed on incredibly well to win by an eased eight lengths. This brilliantly consistent horse seems to relish his time over fences, we will now look to another high-class contest in preparation for hopefully some exciting times later in the season when the festivals come around.
