Weekend Winners! 🏆

The hero that is PORTRUSH TED put his heart on the line to win the 2m7f Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle at Sandown on Saturday under a brilliant ride from Gavin Sheehan. They disputed the lead throughout the contest having made a small mistake at the fourth which looked to have knocked the wind out of TED. He then rallied fantastically around the final turn and fought back to the front having to go around the wandering leader. He did all of this whilst carrying top weight! A fantastic performance from this talented individual. TED, who is the namesake of Max McNeill’s father, has been special ever since his first win in his first start in 2017 and then went on to win the Graded bumper at the Grand National meeting a year later. To date he has won five of his nine starts. He has however been seen sparingly on the track due to him being quite fragile and has benefitted hugely from the use of our equine swimming pool. We are happy to report that he is in good form after his recent victory and we very much look forward to his next run.

Our English raider MAHLERVOUS took spoils from the North again yesterday by winning the 2m7f Mrs Ivan Straker Paris Pike Novices’ Chase at Kelso under a very determined ride from Harry Bannister. In 2019 MAHLERVOUS notched up wins at Kelso and Ayr bringing back Scottish spoils for us. This time he tracked the leaders until going hammer and tongs from the 13th to the finish line with the eventual runner up. MAHLERVOUS put his heart on the line and battled well to pass the posts first and we are very happy for him and his owners’ The Marvellous Partnership.
