GOLAN LOOP WINS AT HEREFORD

GOLAN LOOP got off the mark over fences last Wednesday when WINNING the Beatwright Handicap Chase 3m 1f at Hereford under James Bowen’s strong drive.

This strong son of Walk In The Park won over hurdles back in May, but was always going to make into a better chaser. He ran very well on chasing debut last month to finish second, and with the run under his belt we were confident he would go one better.

Sure enough, Golan Loop jumped well and travelled strongly throughout the race before taking up the lead on the home turn, and on jumping the last, was just kept up to his work by James to win by four and a half lengths.

Alan Turner- of the Glassex and Turner Partnership was there to collect the prize, and it was great to see his colours back in the Winners Enclosure! Golan Loop will no doubt go from strength to strength now and will bring his owners plenty more fun this season and beyond.

APOLLON FORLONGE AND PREMIER WIN AT TAUNTON

Thursday saw APOLLON FORLONGE and PREMIER head to Taunton to run in their respective races over hurdles- with both horses bringing home the WIN under James Bowen for their owners Jim and Claire Ltd.

First up was APOLLON FORLONGE in the Kings College Taunton EBF Junior NH Hurdle over 2 miles. This was Apollon Forlonge’s second only ever run, having previously run a nice race to finish 3rd last month at Exeter where he learnt a huge amount. He put that experience to good use, and was very professional throughout the race, taking up the lead after the 4th Hurdle, jumping with great accuracy and galloping on strongly all the way to the line to WIN comfortable by 7 and a half lengths.

Apollon Forlonge is the third of our French bred 3-year-old to get the win in one of these races, and he, along with Milou Du Chenet and Aqua Bleu are definitely horses to watch in the future.

PREMIER then took his turn- running in the Boyle Sports Novices’ Handicap Hurdle over 2 miles- only his 4th start over hurdles. Running in a race like this is no mean feat for a 3-year-old as they take on older horses, many of which have lots of experience under their belts. Premier did not shy away from the task however, and put his 3-year-old weight allowance to good use! Having been quite keen previously in races, James settled Premier at the back of the field where he travelled and jumped really nicely. The pair then started making headway and were pressing the leader 2 hurdles from home, taking up the lead at the last. Premier then had to put his head down and be really tough all the way to the line, managing to WIN by a head!

Premier is the second of our Juveniles to win over hurdles, having bought them from the Breeze-Up Sales as 2-year-olds and having had a successful Flat campaign for us also. It is great to see these horses progressing, and it is all down to the hard work of the team at home- well done everybody!
