A BRILLIANT WEEK
VILLAGE MASTER WINS AT WORCESTER
What a brilliant week we had last week with 3 winners in 3 days!
VILLAGE MASTER kicked off our winning streak on Wednesday when he travelled to Worcester to try and make it a hat trick of wins from three runs- and he did not disappoint!
Partnered again by James Bowen, the pair lined up in the Rory Daly Handicap Chase over 2m 7f and raced prominently throughout. Village Master displayed his characteristic accurate jumping and although was slightly outpaced coming down to 4 out, we knew he would rally and stay really strongly all the way to the line. He did exactly this, showing his usual grit and determination to chase his opponents down and ultimately coming home in front by one and three-quarter lengths!
This is Village Master’s 8th win over fences which is quite a feat from a 6-year-old and is a testament to his talent and determination to win. Congratulations to owners Bryce & Eynon, who will no doubt have a very exciting summer and beyond with this horse.
LOPE EL FUEGO WINS AT NEWBURY
LOPE EL FUEGO became our second 2-year-old WINNER of the season when she headed to Newbury last Thursday for only her second start. This time she lined up in the Irish EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes over 6 furlongs, partnered by Eddy Greatrex.
Our 2-year-olds always improve for the experience of their first run, and having made a nice start to her racing career when finishing at not-far-beaten 5th at Bath just 3 weeks earlier, we were confident she would put in a big performance this time.
Sure enough, she jumped well out of the stalls and travelled easily throughout, coming to lead 1 furlong from home and when asked showed a great and straightforward attitude to stretch away come home in front 2 and a quarter lengths in front of her nearest rival.
This was a really lovely performance from this 2-year-old daughter of Lope Y Fernandez, which she is sure to build on still further- a nice prospect for owners Jim and Claire Ltd!
SHILLANAVOGY WINS AT NEWTON ABBOT
SHILLANAVOGY then rounded off our brilliant 3 days when heading to Newton Abbot on Friday to run in the Helen Hambly Handicap Chase over 2 miles.
Off the back of his latest win at Cartmel at the end of May, Shillanavogy came into the race in fine form and was again partnered by James Bowen. The pair kept it very simple, making the running and jumping accurately from fence to fence and travelling very easily throughout. One by one their rivals came under pressure behind them, but Shillanavogy kept galloping easily all the way to the line and WINNING by 7 and a half lengths!
It is great to see Shillanavogy running with so much confidence, he is at the top of his game right now and will no doubt continue to put in more brilliant performances over the summer- hopefully picking up a few more wins long the way!
Well done to owners Ray and Mary and Jim and Claire of the Both Ways Partnership, and as always thank you to our fantastic team at home who are doing a brilliant job of keeping the horses healthy, happy and in such good form!
