HENSCHKE WINS!
Last Tuesday saw yard- favourite HENSCHKE win the Turf Services Handicap Chase 2m 5f at Ffos Las under another power-packed ride from James Bowen.
Henschke had always shown promise over Hurdles, but the step up to the bigger obstacles has really played to his strengths, and he ran really well to finish second on Chasing debut at the beginning of January, and then went one better this time.
James gave him a lovely positive ride and kept him in touch with the leaders all the way. A couple of novicey mistakes looked as though they may have scuppered his chances of winning, but Henschke and James battled back to challenge at the last obstacle, before staying on strongly up the run-in and coming home in front by a length.
Henschke is sure to go from strength-to-strength now and gain in confidence for his win, and it would be great to see him win a few more now for his owner Tracy Brown, who has been a great supporter of Warren’s since he started training, and who has been very patient with Henschke, to allow him the time he needed to be the horse he is today.
Also a very big well-done to Beth, who joined us a couple of weeks ago having studied at the British Racing School, before going on a 4 month placement with Henrietta Knight, and then coming to us. Beth has fitted in to the team really well, and lead up Henschke as her first ever winner!
