HE KNOWS BETTER WINS AT SOUTHWELL

It has been another brilliant week for the team with another 3 winners to add to our tally for the season.

It started with HE KNOWS BETTER heading to Southwell last Wednesday to line up in the Bistro In Sherwood Handicap Chase over 2m 4f, partnered by Sean Bowen. This is He Knows Better’s first season over fences, having missed last season through injury- he has always been a super consistent horse and is very rarely out of the placings. Having been runner up on his previous 2 runs, He Knows Better was really deserving of a win, and so it was fantastic to watch him get his head in front.

Partnered by Sean Bowen, He Knows Better jumped and travelled nicely throughout the race, but was slightly outpaced 2 fences from home, giving his nearest rival a glimpse of victory when they passed managed to pass and go clear by a couple of lengths. However, under Sean’s strong drive and with huge determination, He Knows Better put his head down and battled hard all the way to the line, ultimately winning by three-quarters of a length.

This victory will have given He Knows Better loads of confidence and owners Mrs Julie Fowler and Mrs Isy Webb have plenty to look forward to with him this season and beyond.

MANIGOD WINS AT LUDLOW

We didn’t have to wait long for our next winner, as MANIGOD made it a quick-fire across the card double when he lined up in the Suzuki King Quad Handicap Hurdle over 2m 5f at Ludlow, partnered by Harry Bannister.

This was Manigod’s first run in a Handicap, having been runner up in all 3 of his previous starts for us, and we knew it wouldn’t be long until he got his head in front. Manigod travelled really strongly throughout the race and sauntered into the lead 3 hurdles from home. The race looked to be in the bag, but 2 hurdles from home Manigod made a bad mistake, causing Harry Bannister to sit extremely tight! Luckily the pair remained in tact and were able to pop the last hurdle much more neatly and stay on strongly to the line, coming home 4 and a half lengths ahead of their nearest rival!

Congratulations to owners Million In Mind Partnership, some of whose members had made the trip to Ludlow to see Manigod win. He will go from strength to strength now and hopefully he can get a few more wins under his belt before the end of the season!

GAELIC PRIDE WINS AT FONTWELL

Our third winner of the week came yesterday at Fontwell in the form of GAELIC PRIDE, who was heading into this race off the back of his Maiden Hurdle win. This time he lined up in the Star Sports Novices’ Hurdle over 2m 3f and was partnered again by Sean Bowen.

It was a step up in trip this time, having won over 2 miles previously, and Gaelic Pride was able to travel very comfortably throughout the race and jump really accurately. He took up the lead 2 hurdles from home going easily, and Sean only had to nudge him along up the home straight to cross the line 6 and a half lengths ahead of their nearest rival.

Gaelic Pride looks a lovely horse who will make up into an even better Chaser further down the line, and is sure to bring plenty of pleasure and more exciting days out to his owners Sally and Allen Franklin and Richard Gurney.

Well done and thank you to all the team at home for keeping the horses in such fine fettle- especially when they have been working in some of the wettest weather we can remember- we couldn’t do it without them!
