STAR FLYER WINS AT SOUTHWELL!

STAR FLYER put in a really game performance last Friday at Southwell to WIN The Southwell Golf Course Handicap Chase over 2m 5f.

Ridden by James Bowen, Star Flyer travelled and jumped with ease throughout the race, taking up the lead at the seventh fence, before going clear of the rest of the field 3 fences from home, and staying on strongly to come home in front by 4 and a half lengths!

This is a particularly momentous win, as Tessa bought Star Flyer (or Rupert as he is affectionately known) for Jim and Claire Bryce as a 3-year-old store horse, and he has needed time and patience to allow him to grow and strengthen up, meaning he could really come into his own over fences! He has always shown in his races and at home that he has ability, and partnered with a brilliant attitude, he has performed consistently well, very rarely being out of the placings in all three codes.

This win should now give Rupert plenty of confidence, and it surely won’t be the last time we see him get his head in front- watch this space!
